This morning, I prepared for the exhibition. By last night, I had prepared photos that embodied my own trajectory. Since I hadn't thought about how to present the photos attractively, I searched for methods of exhibition. Ideas such as printing them out and framing them or creating a book came to mind. Considering that the entire class would be participating in the exhibition this time, I explored impactful approaches to create memorable pieces. Influenced by the artist Chihiro Shiohata, I explored exhibition methods using various materials. She creates dynamic immersive installations by stringing black and red threads throughout the entire space. Observers of her work become aware of intangible connections, memories, anxieties, dreams, and silences as they walk through the space. I found the approach of expressing the unseen with threads intriguing and reflected it in my own work. My pieces also highlight the unseen data of trajectories, and I felt a strong thematic similarity.

Additionally, I conducted various experiments with a projector. I selected nine photos from those I had taken and projected them side by side. To make an impact, I had to either increase the number of photos or create a massive artwork, so I attempted to emphasize the impression of the piece by arranging nine photos. However, I realized that my decision to choose nine photos was wrong. This was because, during the critique session, it was pointed out that there were too many photos, and it was unclear where the focus should be. There was also feedback that the background was a map, which I had overlooked. I had pursued impact too much and failed to convey the concept to the viewers effectively.

If I could further improve, I would like to design so that one image is selected and immediately recognized as a map.

Humans becoming robots, the post-human experience when one’s consciousness exists beyond the organic body; digitizing the human body.

The threads emerge from the projected digital image into the physical plane, reflecting this idea.

Their presence on the floor creates a barrier—prevents people from getting close/intimate with the projected images, perhaps emphasizing this distance from humanity.

Do the threads have intentional material associations, such as historically female-dominated crafts like knitting or weaving?

The threads and gps lines on the map originally appear to be nerve fibers of veins, the skin like circuitry or something alien. Had to be told that it was a map, but once everyone knew we thought it was so cool.

The choice of nine small images seemed to lend less individual importance to each, also distancing one from the humanity of the subject within the images.
